I'd like to introduce the newest member of the Aguilar-Smith team: ANDRE 3K
We got him from our local Richmond SPCA 3 weekends ago, after Josh finished the Monument 10K, (in an hour with little training I may add, Go Josh!). We believe he picked us. We went in the rooms where they have about 10 cats running around and he came right up to Josh and started snuggling up with him. Andre was smart though, cuz he knew it would ultimately be my decision so if I even dared to walk to see another kitty, Andre would twirl around my feet and stop me. When we left the room to take him into a play room, he sat right there at the door waiting for us to return. He loves to be pet and plays with this laser light that Josh hates to use on him because he says its a "unsatisfing prey." He makes these fun noises when hes excited, like a pokemon. I guess you'll have to take a trip to Richmond to fully understand.
Easters came and Josh's mom, Becky, made us this gorgeous wreath. She knew I was attempting to make one but I threw it out after 3 tries. She actually made the wreath by wrapping grapevines that were growing in Josh's grandfather's backyard. The flowers are great and really pop on our black door. I LOVE it!
As spring arrives, Josh has been worried about our yard and the grass. Since we are in a budget Josh's other grandfather, whom I refer to as "hot grandpa" fixed up a fairly new lawnmower and gave it to us! We were so stoked we didn't have to drop $200 dollars on a lawnmower. Instead we used the money to buy a weed whacker, only after i protested and Josh convinced me we really needed one. Josh also bought some gravel for a driveway so we wouldn't have to park itn the mud anymore and his pal Brett came over to help unload it. We only had to pay him a meatloaf sandwich and a coke. Now thats what I call a deal!

78 Degrees in Mid-March

It snowed last weekend and this weekend was bathing suit weather. To take advantage of the beautiful 78 degree weather, Josh and I shot some cans in my backyard:
Don' underestimate the confused expression, i was much better at shooting than Josh :)

2009 ANNUAL WINTER FAM JAM
0 comments
It came and it went, but all and all SUPER FUN! Luckily, both the weather channel and Massanutten weather reports lied to us and it was bright and sunny all day on Saturday and night blew in some flurries making the slopes much easier to glide on. I convinced Group A consisting of Maine & Ja to do some Blacks with me and they had a blast. (Minus Janet getting yelled at for falling off the lift and not moving over). We did bunk bed girl talk, played mad gab - foreign accent style, catchphrase with excitable Maricris (this girl loves games), had delicious dinners and most of all relaxed with the family. We were not at all ready to leave.

Just Funny.

Snow Day

IT's OFFICIALLY A SNOW DAY!
Josh and I went to wally-world yesterday to buy chili ingredients to end our Winter FamJam weekend and while we were there, we noticed that they had snow shovels and salt displayed in the front. We didn't think much about it at the time, but I did notice Josh's puzzled look when we walked past them... little did we know, there was a Winter Storm on the way to Central VA.
This is what we woke up to:
Josh got called off last night but I had to wait this morning to find out. Can you believe or CEO was serioulsy considering keeping the offices open? The mini would of never made it:
To celebrate, Josh and I built a fire and attempted a snowman, we ended up with just a head.
Off to the store to buy eggs, Josh wants to make snow creams? He said he used to eat them when he was little whenever it snowed.
I'm still collecting FamJam photos so look out for an update.

New Couch!
We got a new couch on Tuesday, and its beautiful! Check it out...
Lets talk about the weekend: Josh and I went to a Rodney Atkins concert thanks to Josh's Mom's Friend, Julie. Heres a great picture of them, as you can tell we took advantage of the free beer with the VIP passes.
It was Jen's Birthday!! We had a nice sushi lunch at a new spot near town center called Fire Ninja. Pretty fancy inside and the lunch was yum-O.
One of our friends came into town from Tucson Arizona, John Collera and his GF Denise. No pictures of the event but we had lunch on Sunday at Bakers Crust and talked about how Josh and I should not move to Arizona since its filled with old people. Little do they know that I LOVE old people. Hopefully John can get relocated and they can move closer!
That was a fun-filled weekend at home in Virginia Beach, this weekend will be just as fun since its WINTER FAM JAM 2009. Im going to start packing tonight!

1 More Week
1 comments
There's exactly 1 week left until we hit the slopes for our 2009 Winter Fam-Jam at Massanutten. Maine and I decided we couldn't wait, so we hit Wintergreen last Sunday for a night sessh, that's session in case you aren't down with the lingo.
And Josh was there too, Skiing. He ordered some skis online and has been glued to the UPS tracking site praying they will come in by Friday.
We've been talking about this trip for 2 months and I'm glad its just around the corner. A house full of family, good eats and snow riding activities...who wouldnt be excited?

Painting Party
0 comments
This past Saturday we had an impromptu Painting Party! We accomplished ALOT. Josh's fam jam came up and helped us tackle the downstairs bathroom, upstairs bedroom, and the kitchen. Though at first Josh and I weren't sure about all the colors we chose, ultimately I think it really helps brighten/warm up the house. I'll post before and after photos soon, (Ive got to clean up a little, its so embarrassing how dirty we are).

Told You I Was Going To Start A Blog...
Hi Friends.
I finally did it, I started a blog! Now the hard parts over, I bet now you'll want to know what this blog all about. Well, you'll find all sorts of randomness that occupies my life along with my very VERY very good friend, Joshua's life.
A little background might help us hit the ground running on this blog thing. After a year of living in Richmond, VA in a converted trolley station loft apartment, Joshua and I purchased our first home together on December 30th, 2008 and moved in on New Year's Eve. Stressful? Yes, but it was an exiting way to start the new year! Our goal is to make this house into OUR HOME. We don't plan on living here forever and our renovating funds are limited but thats where creativity comes in.
Our journey includes lots of people so I finally put one of my ideas from my idea book (thanks Jess!) into motion and started this blog, better yet, our life's paper trail. Enjoy the bumpy ride!
Love,
MJ & JT
